THON 2016 on February 19-21
The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately known as THON, is a yearlong effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. Since 1977, THON has raised more than $140 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. THON 2016 took place on February 19th-21st, 2016 at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center. More information on THON, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world is available at http://www.thon.org.
With your help, our Central Ohio Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association donated $1100 to THON 2016. The amount was designated to Ashley’s THON organization – ATLA. Ashley is a Penn State student from Powell, who canned at our November 7th PSU Football Viewing Party.
Braihan Beckel, our 2012 scholarship winner sent us some pictures, a short video and a note and from THON this year:
THON 2016 is absolutely amazing so far! All of our dancers (Phi Chi Theta) are doing great and the energy in the BJC is unmatched. The line dance that the Dancer Relation captains came up with is really exciting (the annual hourly dance performed with lyrics about all the different things that have happened this year).
These are all my roommates, the two with the belts are the ones dancing. We are WWE themed this year because our THON child that recently passed away loved wrestling and so we wanted to let that shine for him throughout the weekend.
